BUSINESS DISASTER PLAN - Tenants

The purpose of this plan is to let you know what to do in a disaster situation

Property Protection Checklist:

  • Protect your windows and doors against wind borne debris by attaching plywood-
  • Protect exposed areas from water damage with tarps, plastic sheeting and duct tape
  • Sandbag areas that may potentially flood
  • Anchor and brace any tall bookcases, filing cabinets, etc.
  • Secure all appropriate items including water heater, gas tanks and other utilities
  • Relocate valuable equipment and fragile items to a safer location
  • Secure computers and other office equipment to desks, tables or countertops with straps, Velcro or similar materials
  • Shut off all utilities (electricity and water)
  • Document your inventory and store backups in a secure location – (Dropbox, Cloud, Onedrive)
  • Register for Emergency Notification System in your county
  • Know your evacuation zone
  • Create your own disaster plan for your business

 

Business Recovery Checklist:

  • Assess any damages to your business or property and document damage
  • Notify the Cross Regions team of any urgent items to be repaired
  • Take appropriate action
  • Report any losses to your insurance company and local emergency management office as soon as possible
  • Repair and clean buildings and reorganize offices

Red Cross Contacts: When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, and health/mental health services to address basic human needs. They also feed emergency workers, handle inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area and help those affected by disaster to access other available resources. The Red Cross can also provide you with emergency shelter information.
